Who developed Strahlfoili?
Strahlfoili horse and hoof care products were developed by Canadian farrier Aletia Reilingh. Our product helps horse owners, grooms, farriers, hoof trimmers and veterinarians take the step towards better horse and hoof health – they actually work.
In 2014, Aletia moved from Canada to Europe and soon found her home in Borken, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany – one of the regions with the highest density of horses in the country. With so many horses came many hoof problems: thrush, hoof cracks, white line disease and more.
As a state-certified farrier, Aletia was presented with horses suffering from thrush and other hoof problems almost every day, and it bothered her. Over the years, she tried every product then available on the market, but was not satisfied with the results. Above all, the long-term effect of the existing products fell short – so Aletia and her team developed the formula for Strahlfoili.
Neither my customers nor I were satisfied with the long-term results of the available products, so my team and I developed the formula for Strahlfoili!
Aletia Reilingh
After 18 months of extensive testing together with veterinarians and horse owners, the time finally came in early 2023 to release Strahlfoili into the horse world – and to say goodbye to thrush, hoof cracks and brittle soles for good.
With the launch in early 2023, our Strahlfoili journey began, and the feedback from horse owners, farriers, hoof trimmers and veterinarians has been positive throughout.
In 2024, we rented a new production facility in the greater Borken area, and in 2026 it was ready to expand again, move into our own production facility and officially launch in the UK and Canada with dedicated shops and websites Strahlfoili.uk & Strahlfoili.ca, while the rest of the world is served from our website Strahlfoili.com.
Our Awards
In 2024, we won a Bronze German Stevie Award for our Instagram page and – thanks to our wonderful customers – the Gold People’s Choice Award for the Company of the Year.
In 2026, Strahlfoili secured third place at the Westmünsterland Startup Award 2026 and was the winner of the People’s Choice Award (thanks to your help).
We are thrilled to have been nominated in the Sustainability and Regional category of the MUT Start-up Awards 2026 by the NRW Bank. The final will take place at the end of November 2026.
